Havu's Story
|Fourth-Generation Directors
Founding our own traditional funeral home had been a shared dream between us twins for some time. Our dream began with our grandmother Anita Nyberg's traditional funeral home in Lieto. However, the spark for the industry runs even deeper in our family: Grandmother Anita's uncle was the true industry pioneer Waldemar Nyberg.
Waldemar Nyberg (1900-1983) was a pioneer of the Finnish funeral industry. He served as chairman of the Finnish Funeral Directors' Association from 1951 to 1971 and was instrumental in founding the industry's wholesale company, SHT-Tukku, in 1955, along with 44 other funeral homes. It is a great honor to continue the work whose foundations our great-great-uncle laid a century ago.
We are fortunate to have learned the traditional practices of funeral services from relatives who have been in the industry for over 100 years. This expertise passed down from generation to generation, along with the importance of family, forms the strongest backbone of our company.
Like our relatives, we are a family business where our spouses are also part of the team. Of the brothers, Martin handles funeral arrangements and Marcus handles estate administration. Marcus's wife Elisa de Wit specializes in sympathy flowers and floral arrangements, while Martin's wife Eveliina de Wit works as the company secretary and handles property sales.
From a young age, we have seen the importance of well-organized funerals and comprehensive service to families. That is why our office offers only quality, carefully arranged funerals and full-service operations – honoring the traditions and values we have learned and wish to maintain.
